How central heating stoves, inserts or cookers work
The main problem with heating with a wood-burning stove or wood stove insert on a central heating system is that heat for water is generated now (when the stove is burning) and is needed later (when the stove is not burning).
Expansion vessel
Chimney stoves and central heating inserts usually have a built-in expansion tank. Its function is:
- It ensures stable pressure despite water temperature variations and prevents pressure fluctuations in pipes and radiators.
- It indirectly contributes to a more stable operation of the heating system, but it does not replace the heat storage tank, which allows storing a larger quantity of hot water for a longer period of time.
In smaller systems (e.g. connecting to a smaller radiator circuit without underfloor heating), a storage tank is thus not strictly necessary in most cases.
Heat storage
In case of higher heat demand or underfloor heating, an additional heat storage tank is needed for stable and reliable operation of the system.
- It allows the excess heat produced by the combustion plant during firing to be stored and gradually released into the central heating system at a later stage.
- Increases heating efficiency and comfort.
An additional heat storage tank is usually mandatory when connected to an underfloor heating system.

From an idea to a new heating appliance in 4 easy steps
1. Free advice and model selection
First, we help you choose a cooker that is tailored to your preferences, space constraints and heating needs.
If you decide to have it installed, we will carry out a free site visit throughout Slovenia to advise you on the choice of model and to check the chimney and connection options. On the basis of the visit, we will prepare an installation quotation, which includes all the necessary connections and additional elements (glass or metal lining, air inlet preparation, etc.).
2. Installation and connection to the chimney in one day
When you buy a stove with installation, our experts will make sure that it is installed correctly, connected to the chimney and that it is safe to use.
Once installation is complete, we will also carry out a performance test (if applicable) and provide you with instructions for proper use, cleaning and maintenance.
3. Connection with central heating system
After our installation (connection to the chimney), the heating appliance must be connected to the central heating system.
We do not carry out mechanical installations ourselves, so you will need to arrange with another contractor to connect to the central heating system or carry out the installations yourself.
4. Support and service
After purchase, we are at your disposal for any questions and further information. Warranty repairs and servicing are usually handled by the manufacturers’ authorised service centres.
We only work with proven manufacturers with good feedback on service and spare parts availability.
If you decide to INSTALL your fireplace yourself, we will provide you with free advice, all the necessary connections
(by arrangement) and the possibility of having the fireplace delivered to your address.
